With tremendous Siyata Dishmaya, and thanks to our members who take responsibility for their medical spending choices, United Refuah has a consistently high ratio of available funds to medical expense reimbursements. The concept of sharing expenses amongst a large group is very powerful and mathematically sound. Take for example a $150,000 hospital bill, when shared amongst 5,000 members it is only $30 from each member’s monthly contribution.
Over the past six years, we’ve actually lowered monthly member contributions and the PreShare and CoShare responsibilities while increasing the scope of services eligible for sharing.
Claims for medical services eligible for sharing are approved and processed in as little as 5-7 days. A list of services ineligible for sharing are clearly outlined in the Sharing Guidelines which can be found here on the United Refuah website. Included in services ineligible for sharing are services related to a pre-existing condition.
There are no network limitations, allowing members the freedom to choose any doctor or hospital worldwide.
Members are encouraged to check the pricing structure with new providers prior to appointments to ensure pricing falls under Usual and Customary rates. United Refuah shares in service costs up to 150% of the published medicare rate.
It is our hope and tefilla that no member should have such health challenges. If such a situation does come up, United Refuah is there for the member with both financial and emotional support. Once a member reaches their PreShare and CoShare Maximum, expenses are shared 100% up to $1,000,000 per incident. With Hashem’s help, no member has ever reached that maximum since our founding.
United Refuah is a non profit healthsharing organization. It is not insurance and does not offer insurance. See Sharing Guidelines for full details. Application and annual renewal fees apply.
